ACTION ITEMS:
Asian American Network against Abuse of Human Rights (ANAA) mission is to mobilize the public opinion through increasing awareness in regards to discriminatory laws and social injustice in Pakistan. We want the civil society in the USA and in Pakistan to join a campaign for human rights in Pakistan.
We suggest following steps to the participants:
- To join ANAA by filling out our online honorary membership form. We will inform you periodically about issues effecting women in Pakistan and what you can do.
- To act by recruiting more members and engaging human right groups and the representative of your area for human rights issues in Pakistan.
- Write letter to your Representative asking Congress to urge government of Pakistan to repeal Hudood Ordinance, end Jirgas and other illegal parallel court systems, and feudalism in Pakistan. Free those hundreds of women who are rotting in women under Hudood ordinance awaiting trial up to seven years. Also urge your representative to allocate more money for earth quake relief especially for women and children.
- Write letter to President Musharraf asking him to end jirga, feudalism and improve conditions for women of Pakistan.
- Donate online to "I can survive Fund" that will support Mukhtaran to develop a resource centre for victim of violence in Pakistan.
