Muktar Bibi of Pakistan will be meeting with NGOs and other interested parties to discuss Violence Against Women in Pakistan and elsewhere.
As you may be aware, Muktar Bibi was gang raped on the orders of a village council. Instead of becoming a victim, she became an outspoken advocate for women's rights.
The President of Pakistan, Pervez Musharaf, prevented Muktar Bibi from visiting Washington DC to speak about violence against women earlier this year. Despite this, she has now arrived in the US to receive an award from Glamour Magazine.
