Mukhtar Mai is coming to the United States to draw attention to the legal, social and political repression faced by victims of violence in Pakistan and focus attention on how the already deplorable state has been made even worse by the recent catastrophic earthquake. Mukhtar’s mission is to persuade the United States Congress to provide another 50 million dollars in humanitarian aid specifically earmarked for the women and children affected by the earthquake.
