Earthquake in Pakistan has brought extreme devastation and destruction. Immediate effort is needed for search and rescue, medical relief, and food and supplies. It is imperative to help in this extreme tragedy in Pakistan.
How can you help?
• Call your Congress representative or Senator and ask them to urge the US Government to send "Search and Rescue Teams" to Pakistan.
• You can also write a letter to your Congress representative. Please CC letter to 4anaapk@gmail.com. (use this letter as template in word & pdf)
• You can donate money to following organizations:
1. The Human Development Foundation (HDF- online)
2. Association of Physicians of Pakistani Descent in North America (APPNA)
3. Pakistan Medical Association (PMA- online)
Contribute to ANAA e-magazine ANAA welcomes submissions for articles for its new e-zine ANAA voice. ANAA voice will focus on human rights and women’s rights issues in Pakistan and submitted articles can be in the format of essays, opinion pieces, features on a particular human rights issue in Pakistan, first person experiences and activist viewpoints. We ask that all submissions be in the body of the email (anaavoice@gmail.com)and not attachments (for virus security purposes) and that the length of submissions be a maximum of 1500 words. Please include your name and contact information with your submission so we can contact you if your article is chosen for publication.
WASHINGTON POST releases audio interview with Musharraf - Listen to what Musharraf said about ANAA without naming it. Musharraf should produce evidence of his allegation. This harrasement of Human Right Defenders must stop.
TAKE ACTION AGAINST: General Musharaf's derogatory coments about rape victims.
Please see Washington Post's article of Sept 13th (PDF) when Gen musharraf said "You must understand the environment in Pakistan? This has become a moneymaking concern. A lot of people say if you want to go abroad and get a visa for Canada or citizenship and be a millionaire, get yourself raped,". Please send a letter to your congress person (word) (pdf) expressing outrage at this statement, and you can also write to General Musharraf (word) (pdf) expressing your concern.
Please act now to provide support to helpless victims of violence who are being victimized over and over again by such callous satements by so-called keepers of women empowerment.
